Paper plate dinosaur craft is really fun for kids who like dinosaurs. You can make your dinosaurs using colourful paper plates.
We cut out parts for the dinosaur’s head, legs, and tail and put them on the plate to make different dinosaurs, like a T-rex or a Stegosaurus. It is fun, and you learn the names of the dinosaurs, too. The full instructions for making a paper plate dinosaur craft follow below.
You’ll need:
- Paper plates
- Coloured heavy paper (for dinosaur templates)
- Scissors and a hole punch (or googly eyes)
- Decorations (like paints and sponge stamps)
How to Make it?
Step 1: Cut and Decorate: Cut some paper plates in half and decorate them. We used paints, but you can also use pencils, crayons, or stickers for less mess.
Step 2: Stamping Fun: Kids loved stamping patterns with sponge stamps made by cutting shapes from a kitchen sponge. They’re quick and easy to make.
Step 3: Paint the Plates: Most templates work best when painted on the back of the plate, but for the Pterodactyl, paint the front.
Step 4: Let Dry: While the plates are drying, use the templates to cut out the paper dinosaur shapes.
Step 5: Cut the Shapes: Print the templates directly onto coloured paper. The Diplodocus is easy for kids to cut, but the other shapes may need an adult’s help.
Step 6: Attach and Finish: Once everything is dry, staple the paper shapes to the plates. Punch a hole for the eye, or stick on a googly eye if you prefer.
